The $25,ooo Summer Splash Winner has spoken! The National League of Poker’s major championship game played on 9/25/2022 and was one for the books. 45 players worked the step system and won a Step 8 Qualifier and were able to play for the $10,000 first place prize. We talked to our first place winner, Sam1Chips to get the scoop on his experience, from how he made it to the championship to his winning hand!

Q: How long have you been playing poker?
A: Since 2011!
Q: How long have you been playing NLOP?
A: Since 2018
Q: Are you a VIP member?
A: Yes!
Q: How often do you play at NLOP?
A: Occasionally – I like to play the ring games, and will always circle the big series events on my calendar!
Q: How long did it take you to qualify for the Championship game?
A: Not very long fortunately – I won the Step 8 on March 30th so I had my ticket locked up for a while
Q: How did you feel when you realized you made it to the Championship?
A: Excited
Q: How did you feel when you WON in the Championship?
A: EXCITED!
Q: Do you remember your winning hand?
A: I won KK v AJ heads-up for like 95% of the chips in the play. After that my opponent was left with only a couple of big blinds and I was able to get the win from there!
Q: What did you enjoy about the series, and what would you change if you could?
A: I love the idea of having a step qualifying series with varying buy-in levels so that all players are able to have a chance to qualify into the Championship!
